Waldhotel Fehrenbach is an exclusive hotel in Hinterzarten in the Alpersbach district. We put great value on comfort and harmony in our rooms. All of our rooms have high quality furnishings with appealing parquet flooring or carpets and modern bathrooms. In the living area you will find a seating corner, a flat screen TV, a telephone and free WiFi.
All of our overnight prices include our gourmet breakfast, the 4 course evening menu and free use of public transport with the KONUS guest card. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed for allergy reasons.

Our restaurant, Zur Goldenen Esche, is open for lunch from Wednesday to Sunday from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM and in the evening from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM. On Monday and Tuesday evening, we offer our hotel guests a 4-course surprise menu from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

The statutory amount of VAT is included in the price. All of our rooms are non-smoking. On your day of departure, please vacate your room before 11 AM. You can check in from 3 PM. Please let us know if you are going to arrive after 8 PM. Cancellation fees for binding reservations: Between 30 and 9 calendar days prior to arrival date: 30% of services booked; from 8 calendar days prior to arrival date: 70% of services booked; for no-shows/short-notice cancellation: 100% of services booked. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate pets.

About us
1858
The history of the current WALDHOTEL Fehrenbach can be traced back to 1858. The first owner of the “Urbanshof” was Johann Fehrenbach, my great-great grandfather.
1873
He obtained permission to run a public house. Hospitality has been a part of our lives ever since then.
1908
The WALDHOTEL Fehrenbach was constructed.
1949
My grandfather, Johann Fehrenbach, was given approval to reopen the guest house. From then on things just got better.
More and more guests preferred the peace and quiet and beauty of the Black Forest, as well as the wonderful atmosphere of our hotel.
The demands made of the kitchen and pleasant accommodation increased.
1965
My father, Albert Fehrenbach, took over the hotel and managed it with heart and soul until 2000. The number of guests continued to increase.
1992
I, Josef Fehrenbach, returned to my parents’ home and am now the fifth generation to manage the WALDHOTEL. During my travels, I learned the art of cooking in the kitchens of well-known hotels and Restaurants in Germany and Ticino.
Since then, I have been refining the recipes of Black Forest dishes with my team. We do this with a great deal of sensitivity, and always with a view to pampering our guests.
We use products from our region in our kitchen and cook everything fresh, of course. Everything is prepared in a very health-conscious way, and we only use cold-pressed oils.
The authentic aroma of the herbs which still grow in copious quantities in the Black Forest refines many of our dishes. The meat, game and fish all come from our region.
2004
Our hotel is given the name of WALDHOTEL Fehrenbach.
2021
As of 1/12/2021, our restaurant will be known as: “ZUR GOLDENEN ESCHE”.
